Gen Z founder shares unusual workplace rules, says he pays 2X when employees give up a day off to work

Workplace culture is often shaped by small decisions that may not appear in a company handbook. How a founder treats employees, handles clients and spends on team activities can reveal a lot about the way a business is run.A recent post by Chandigarh entrepreneur Pratham Jindal has drawn attention for offering a glimpse into some of those choices. The 25-year-old business owner shared several practices he follows while managing his company, including his approach to employees who work on their days off.His comments have also led social media users to discuss the kind of workplace environment founders can create for their teams.

Double pay for working on a day off

One of the points Jindal spoke about was compensation for employees who give up their time off.“And if someone gives up their day off to work, I believe they should be paid 2X for it.”Jindal said these are not necessarily rules that every business should follow. Instead, he described them as things he personally believes in as a founder.

Employees can joke about him

Jindal also described a fairly informal relationship with his team.“I let my team roast me. I spend money on month-end parties. I talk openly about our numbers. I’m more involved in content than day-to-day operations,” Chandigarh-based founder Pratham Jindal wrote on Instagram.

He spends on celebrations

Money spent by a company does not always go towards something that directly brings in revenue, according to Jindal.“Things I do as a 25 y/o business owner that would send other founders into a coma,” he wrote while introducing his list of practices. He said he spends a hefty sum on month-end parties and takes these events seriously.Jindal also explained his thinking behind spending on areas that may not directly generate money.“I spend more money on things that don’t directly make money. Like – Team experiences, office culture and celebrations,” he wrote.

His approach to difficult clients

Jindal also shared where he draws the line when it comes to client relationships.“I always choose to let go of a client than an employee. I don’t let my team tolerate a bad client.”The statement was part of his explanation of how he approaches situations where a client’s behaviour affects his employees.

What people said online

Several social media users responded positively to the post. One person wrote, “You are an inspiration.”Another commented, “Thank you for letting us know these things and boosting our mindset to set bars like this.”A third user said, “Every founder should see this.”Another wrote, “Bhai saaab, so good.
