US man’s 2x-speed Hanuman Chalisa recital leaves Indians impressed: ‘He chants better than me’

What happens when you try to recite the Hanuman Chalisa at double speed? One Texas-based man decided to give it a shot, and the result has left social media impressed.Nick Dearman, a Hanuman devotee and holistic health coach based in Texas, shared a video on Instagram in which he recited the devotional hymn at 2x speed.Nick explained that he had slept in that morning and was running short on time, so he decided to do a “speed version” of the Hanuman Chalisa.He then got straight into the recitation. Despite the unusually fast pace, Nick maintained his rhythm and appeared to know the verses by heart, moving from one line to the next without stopping.And he kept the same pace right until the end.

Social media is loving it

The video has since attracted more than 1.4 million views, with viewers flooding the comments with praise, surprise and a few jokes.“He chants the Hanuman Chalisa better than me,” one person wrote.Another viewer joked about hearing an American recite the hymn so confidently, writing, “Dear diary, today I heard Hanuman chalisa recited by a white guy and it was actually really nice. The ancestors are confused.”Others focused on his devotion. “You are amazing. This filled my heart with joy,” one viewer commented, while another wrote, “I’m so proud to see your devotion to Hanuman Ji.”Someone else simply commented, “Jai Hanuman.”Nick has also spoken about his devotion to Lord Hanuman in other videos. In one clip, he described Hanuman as his presiding deity and the focus of his devotional worship.

All about the Hanuman Chalisa

The Hanuman Chalisa is a Hindu devotional hymn dedicated to Lord Hanuman, a central figure in the Ramayana and a devoted follower of Lord Rama.The hymn was composed by poet-saint Tulsidas in Awadhi and consists of 40 chaupais, or verses. The word “Chalisa” comes from chalis, the Hindi word for 40.For generations, devotees have recited the Hanuman Chalisa as a prayer praising Hanuman’s strength, courage and devotion while seeking his blessings and protection.
