Tamil cinema is debating remarks made by theatre owners’ association president Tiruppur Subramaniam about producers suffering losses because of actors and directors. Several filmmakers have questioned his claims, stressing that facts must be verified before anyone’s reputation is damaged. Director Innasi Pandian, whose name has been linked to the controversy, has also responded. What Tiruppur Subramaniam said about a producer’s losses
During the latest episode on his YouTube channel, Tiruppur Subramaniam spoke about a producer who had allegedly suffered a major financial setback because of a director.“A producer told me that he had been badly affected by a director. He had borrowed Rs 4.50 crore, and with interest, the amount had increased to Rs 9 crore. Even after completing 70 per cent of the film, they were reshooting because the director was not satisfied. The film is still not complete,” he said.He also suggested that producers often remain silent about such experiences, allowing actors and directors to act without being held accountable.Although he did not name anyone, speculation linked the account to ‘Diary’ director Innasi Pandian and producer Kathiresan of Five Star Creations. However, these links were not confirmed in his remarks.
