Malayalam actor Naslen is steadily expanding his presence beyond the Malayalam film industry, with his latest outing bringing him to Tamil cinema. While the young actor is now making his Tamil debut with Suriya‘s ‘Scene,’ his earlier casting rumours surrounding Ajith Kumar‘s ‘Good Bad Ugly’ have resurfaced. Director Adhik Ravichandran has now explained why Naslen was considered for the film but eventually did not play Ajith‘s on-screen son. He has also addressed the circumstances that led to the discussion, putting an end to speculation surrounding the casting decision.
Adhik Ravichandran clarifies why he rejected Naslen for ‘Good Bad Ugly’
Speaking in an interview with Behindwoods, Adhik revealed that production house Mythri Movie Makers had approached him about meeting Naslen while they were discussing Mamitha Baiju’s casting for ‘Dude.’ Since the Malayalam actor was in Chennai at the time, the makers wanted Adhik Ravichandran to meet him as well. However, the director himself advised the production team against casting Naslen as Ajith’s son.“I also met him and told him that I was doing Ajith Kumar sir’s film. I myself told Mythri not to cast Naslen as Ajith sir’s son, as he was already playing a hero and there wasn’t much space for that character. If it had been a full-fledged father-son film, we could have done it with Naslen,” he said. The role eventually went to Karthikeya Dev, who played Vihaan in the action entertainer.
Naslen makes Tamil debut with Suriya’s ‘Scene’ as the antagonist
Interestingly, Naslen is now stepping into Tamil cinema with ‘Scene,’ which hit theatres today, November 6, coinciding with the Diwali celebrations. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, the film features Suriya in the lead role as DSP Inbaraj, while Naslen plays the antagonist. This marks a major shift from his familiar boy-next-door and youthful hero roles in Malayalam films. The actor shares screen space with Suriya in a film that has generated considerable interest among Tamil audiences. His casting as the villain has also added another layer of curiosity to his Tamil debut.
Adhik Ravichandran prepars for ‘Daredevil’ shoot
Meanwhile, Adhik Ravichandran is preparing for his second collaboration with Ajith Kumar, titled ‘Daredevil.’ The pooja ceremony of the film happened recently in Chennai, and the shooting is scheduled to begin post Diwali. The project is produced by Shalini Ajith Kumar under Brave Hearts Production and features Sreeleela, Parthiban, Prabhu, Sunil and Unni Mukundan, among others.Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music, with Abhinandhan Ramanujam handling cinematography and Vijay Velukutty taking care of editing. Although Naslen’s name has surfaced in discussions about his association with Adhik’s films, the director’s clarification addresses only his casting in ‘Good Bad Ugly.’ His involvement in ‘Daredevil’ has not been confirmed in the statement.
