Soon overnight train journeys in India are going to be as luxury and comfortable as it gets thanks to Vande Bharat Sleeper variants. A creator recently took to Instagram and shared the first look inside the First AC compartment of the Delhi–Varanasi Vande Bharat Sleeper Express. Travel creator Akshay Malhotra (@journeyswithak), has shared a glimpse of the train’s first-class accommodation, giving rail lovers a closer look at what passengers can expect.He captioned the video,“INSIDE LOOK WILL BLOW YOUR MIND”And the video does blow people’s minds with the fantastic look inside of the train. From ergonomically designed berths and individual reading lights to charging points, water-bottle holders and a rather interesting feature on the cabin door, the new train appears to put considerable emphasis on comfort and privacy of passengers.One detail that particularly stands out is a window that can be switched to an opaque setting, allowing passengers to enjoy greater privacy inside their compartment.A cabin designed around privacy“Bhai look at this, bhai ye kya design kiya hai”, the creator opens the door of the cabin and looks amazed.The most interesting feature of the video is arguably the switchable privacy glass. The window on the cabin door can be turned opaque with the press of a button, allowing passengers to block the view from outside when they want privacy.It is a small addition, but one that could make a difference during an overnight journey, particularly for passengers travelling in First AC.The compartment also features:

The new service is expected to become an important overnight connection between New Delhi and Varanasi, covering approximately 760 km.According to the Railway Board-approved timetable reported on October 30, the train will operate under two numbers:– Train 27421 (Varanasi–New Delhi): It will depart Varanasi at 8:50 pm and reach New Delhi at 5:55 am the following day.– Train 27422 (New Delhi–Varanasi): It will leave New Delhi at 9:40 pm and arrive in Varanasi at 6:45 am the next morning.This translates into a journey of approximately nine hours and five minutes in either direction. The service will operate six days a week.The Varanasi-originating train will not run on Fridays, while the New Delhi-originating service will not operate on Saturdays.The train is scheduled to be inaugurated on October 31, with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expected to jointly flag it off.What will the train offer beyond First AC?The First AC cabin is only one part of the new sleeper train. The Delhi–Varanasi route already has two Vande Bharat Chair Car services. However, the new sleeper version is intended for a different kind of traveller.While chair-car trains are suited to daytime journeys, the sleeper version allows passengers to board in the evening, settle into their berths and reach their destination the following morning.The first Vande Bharat Sleeper service was planned between Guwahati and Howrah, as announced by the Ministry of Railways in January 2026.The Delhi–Varanasi connection is another significant addition to this category of overnight trains.
