Quote of the Day from the Bhagavad Gita, 26 October 2026: One Lesson on Rising Again After Disappointment
A small restaurant owner faced rejection from a bank after waiting eight months for a loan. He decided to close for a day due to disappointment but resolved to seek new options. The owner booked a meeting with a different bank afterward and allowed himself to feel the impact of the rejection. He eventually reopened his restaurant and secured a smaller loan from a cooperative bank.

A small restaurant owner waited eight months for a bank loan to expand his kitchen. The letter finally came on a Monday. Rejected. He locked up early that evening and did not open the next day.Disappointment can freeze a person in place for days. Chapter 2 Verse 37 of the Bhagavad Gita speaks to that frozen moment. Krishna tells Arjuna that whatever the battle brings, something is gained. If he falls, he reaches heaven. If he wins, he enjoys the earth. So, Krishna says, rise with firm resolve.

Both Outcomes Hold Something

Krishna’s reasoning here is striking. He makes no promise of victory. Instead, he shows that effort has value either way.The bank’s rejection letter still listed its reasons. Those reasons are useful material for the next application.

Uttishtha Means Stand Up

The word is simple and physical. Get up.Disappointment often tempts a person to stay down a little longer. A day of rest can help. A month of it usually makes the climb back much harder.

Rising Needs a Firm Decision

Krishna pairs rising with krita-nishchaya, meaning resolved or decided. Getting up without a plan can lead straight back to the same wall.So after a setback, pick one concrete next move. The owner could book a meeting with a different bank. Or he could look at a smaller upgrade that current savings allow.

Let the Feeling Pass Through

Rising again doesn’t require pretending the blow didn’t hurt. The loan mattered. Eight months of waiting mattered too.Allow a short space to feel it. Then set a date to return to work, and keep to it.

Arjuna Rose From a Low Point

Arjuna began the Gita slumped in despair, his weapons put aside. By the end, he stood ready to act.The change took time and a long conversation. It did not happen all at once.

The Restaurant Opens Again

Verse 37 of Chapter 2 asks for rising and resolve together. Neither works well on its own.The owner reopened on Wednesday. Within a month, a cooperative bank approved a smaller loan, enough for a new stove and a second fridge.
