“China ki bullet train bhi India ki is train ke samne fail hai.” The video opens with this bold claim by travel creator Debajit Das, known as @nitin_vlogs_ on Instagram. He introduces viewers to his journey aboard India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train. He travelled from Howrah Junction in West Bengal, Kolkata to Kamakhya Junction in Assam.Das offers a glimpse of the onboard experience. He highlights the train’s spacious washroom, premium seating and welcome service and meals. He also shares how much he paid for his ticket, giving prospective passengers an idea of what it costs to experience one of Indian Railways’ newest overnight train services.A welcome aboard the Vande Bharat SleeperThe reel starts with the journey at Howrah Junction, from where the Vande Bharat Sleeper departs at 6:20 PM. The train is scheduled to reach Kamakhya the following morning at 8:20 AM, covering approximately 966 km in around 14 hours. As soon as he boards, the video shows a member of the train staff welcoming him with a bottle of water. For those who don’t know, the Vande Bharat Sleeper is India’s first sleeper variant of the Vande Bharat train series. The trains are developed specifically for long-distance overnight travel. The service began regular operations on January 22, 2026, connecting Howrah in West Bengal with Kamakhya in Assam.‘It felt like a five-star property’Later in the video, the vlogger says that the train feels like a 5-star property. One of the first things Das was curious about was the washroom, calling it a premium and luxurious train. He heads towards it to see whether the train lives up to its reputation for luxury. And the moment he sees the washroom, he looks absolutely surprised. Describing the washroom as spacious and clean, he says it made him feel as though he had entered a five-star property. The bathrooms were clean and well-maintained. And this observation makes it one of the most memorable moments in his review. Some other officially documented features of Vande Bharat include:
- Aerosol-based fire detection
- Suppression systems in lavatories
- Electrical cabinets
- UV-C lamp-based disinfection system
- Premium seats and onboard dining
Another prime feature of the train is the premium seats. Das praises the quality of the seating, describing it as premium. Unlike the original Vande Bharat Express trains, which primarily serve daytime routes with chair-car seating, the Vande Bharat Sleeper has been designed for journeys for night travel. Its fully air-conditioned coaches offer sleeping berths across three accommodation classes: AC First Class, AC 2 Tier and AC 3 Tier. The train also incorporates features:
- Automatic passenger doors
- CCTV cameras
- Indigenous KAVACH train-protection system
- Speed is 180 km/h, while its specified operating speed is up to 160 km/h
Food is another part of Das’s experience. At around 8 pm, he says, the onboard staff serves dinner. He has opted for a non-vegetarian meal, while noting that vegetarian meals are also available.Vande Bharat Sleeper ticket cost

Das says he is travelling in AC 3 Tier and has paid ₹2,450 for the ticket. He adds that passengers choosing AC 2 Tier or First AC will pay different fares. For First AC, the fare is as good as a flight. For travellers heading towards Assam and the wider Northeast, the experience may be as much about the journey itself as reaching the destination.
