The easiest way to keep your coffee maker clean is to do a little every day. After each brew, throw away the used grounds and rinse the carafe and filter basket under running water. Once a week, wash all the removable parts, such as the carafe, lid and filter holder, with warm soapy water, and let them dry completely. Don’t forget the water reservoir, which should be wiped out too. Leaving it open to air out between uses also helps stop damp, musty smells from building up.
